Rwanda
is a small, beautiful country to the East of Congo. It is known as the
land of a thousand hills. Ministry there involves education, health
care, orphanages, care for those with aids and whatever needs the
people have, always taking special care to serve the poor. There are
two ethnic groups in the country, the majority Hutus and the Tutsis.
The 1994 genocide was a tragic event in Rwanda during which over
800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus were murdered within three months.
In the aftermath of this horror, the people truly struggle to create a
spirit of reconciliation within the land. The sisters are very
involved in this ministry of reconciliation.
The
mission in Tanzania is very new. The sisters have opened a pre-school
there and are gradually expending their ministry as the various needs
of the people call to them.
