We have welcomed four of our Rwandan Sisters of St. Mary who will
spend three months with us sharing our life together and enriching us
by their presence, all while being immersed in English. English has
recently become the official language in Rwanda, replacing French.
We're delighted to welcome them.
Exciting News!!
"WELCOME" NEWS! We have long hoped for and anticipated the visit of several Sisters of St. Mary from Rwanda. Today, March 10, 2010, three sisters arrived in Buffalo to join the the Eastern Province for several months. It is a day of great joy and rejoicing for all of us!
Be sure to watch here for ongoing news of their visit and photos as they become available...

Last year Rwanda
quite suddenly made English the official language of the country,
replacing French. Everything must now be done in English, including
education. Needless to say, learning a new language quickly is a big
challenge. Sr. M. Veronica and Sr. Sandra spent several weeks in
Rwanda last year to give them a start but thought it would be even
better if they could come here for an English immersion experience. The
United States has granted them visas, and so it is with great joy that we greet our three sisters from so very far away! Although they will be
studying English intensely while here, we will have the great blessing
and joy of sharing life with them and getting to know them.
The Sisters are hard at work studying English under the guidance of Sister Mary Veronica, with the help of Sister Mary Judith, Sister Francis and Sister Rita.
